Energy Efficiency Magazine for COP 28
Dubai 2023
Here we are again. The 26th UNFCCC meeting to forge global consensus for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Expectations are high despite the challenges – geo-politics, Covid-19, vested interests. They should be high. COPs are a moment of global attention, accountability and collective agreement, however understanding the true value of such moments requires looking beyond the negotiated text.

As we gather at COP28, hosted by the United Arab Emirates, it is clear that the time for action on climate change has never been more urgent. The world faces an unprecedented challenge, as the global community seeks to mitigate the devastating impacts of rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and the countless consequences of increasing greenhouse gas emissions.
Morocco, a pioneer country in the promotion of renewable energies and energy efficiency, under the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is part of this global effort. Morocco strives to set an inspiring example of how commitment to sustainable development can lead to positive change.
